WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that the glory of God is a human being, fully alive.

Thus, we strive to be a community of healing and reconciliation, supporting and celebrating each other as we are,

and as God would have us be.

Gather

We gather regularly as followers of Christ - ever seeking to know God through Christ more fully. As did St. Francis, we worship God in the beauty of holiness. We are a festive community where your soul can be fed, heal, and grow.

Transform

We are pilgrims on a journey. In all we do we are open to the Holy Spirit drawing us ever closer to God. We grow deeper into the love of God and into Christian community through study, contemplation, prayer, and action. We are an oasis for the soul.

Serve

We believe our baptism calls us to roll up our sleeves and get busy. Through servant ministry, we seek wholeness for our siblings in the greater Macon area, in the Diocese of Atlanta, Churchwide in the Episcopal Church, and throughout the world.

Our Beliefs

We strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.

  • We believe, as Episcopalians, in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.
  • We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.
  • We believe you are created in God’s image.
  • We believe leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.
  • We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.
  • We believe St. Francis Episcopal Church, as a community, is called to embrace and share the Good News of Jesus, the Christ with all, through God’s transforming grace and love to help bring about God’s Kingdom here on earth.
  • We reflect the fullness of Our Creator’s love by welcoming you regardless of race, gender, age, culture, ethnic background, sexual orientation, economic circumstances, family configuration or differences in ability.
  • You are encouraged to share your gifts and talents in worship, service, study, and leadership.
  • All are welcome in this place.
  • We challenge ourselves and the world to love like Jesus as we worship joyfully, serve compassionately, and grow spiritually. - Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta Purpose Statement
